Greatest effect of this is seen in the English and Humanities subjects | “the two effects we find go in the same direction: they both increase the gender gap in student investment; with a male teacher, the gap between boys? and girls? effort increases because girls invest more; with a female teacher, the gap increases because boys invest less”
